| St George's Garrison Church. |
I had read quite a bit about St George's Garrison Church and its history, but I had never been to visit it, until now.
As it is only open to the public on Sundays, unless for an exhibition or special event, it has always been difficult to find the time to get there. Fortunately, I was in the area as I had just visited Severndroog Castle, just down the road, which has a viewing platform that is only accessible on, you guessed it, a Sunday.

It was beautiful noon day as Keilyn and I wandered through the gates into the garden of this ruined church, the sun illuminating the gold mosaic above the altar, ahead of us. The canopy, above the remains, filtered the light making the whole place glow.

The mosaics are stunning, with the St George mosaic being my favourite along with the Victoria Cross Memorial.

The walls, pillars and columns are all still in place creating a wonderful place to reflect.

| Temple Church. |
Saturday May 27, 2023.
The Temple Church is famous throughout the world as the church of the Knights Templar and was a place that I long wished to visit.
It was by pure chance that while wandering along Fleet Street I noticed that the gates to Temple Church were open, with an A-board advertising that the church was open for viewing. So, through the gate I headed.
The narrow passageway soon opened up and, in front and to my left, the Round of Temple Church came into view.

I made my way around to the south of the building, which is the best place from which to view the church and is where the entrance is situated.

After admiring the architecture and the surrounding buildings, which are filled with law firms and the like, I entered the church.
Now, I have been inside many churches, cathedrals and abbeys all of varying size and stature, but Temple Church is on another level, in my opinion.

On my many wanders around and through the City of London, I have always been struck by the amount of churches dotted throughout. Occasionally, I have stumbled across the ruins of churches either destroyed in the Great Fire of 1666 or bombed via Zeppelin raids of World War I, or the Blitz of World War II.
Some of these ruins have been turned into pocket parks or gardens of remembrance, while others have been lost forever, with, very little to show that they were ever there.

I soon became intrigued to see if there was a complete list of churches within the City of London that were either still standing, ruined or lost to the ravages of time.

It was an unseasonably warm morning as Keilyn and I headed to London, for a wander long the Regent's Canal from St John's Wood to King's Cross.

Towards the end of our journey, as a slight drizzle could be felt on the breeze, we visited St Pancras Old Church where we also saw the Hardy Tree and the Sir John Soane Mausoleum.

Fortunately for us the church was open, so we stepped inside this historic building and had a good look around. Before we left we made a small donation for some votive candles, lit them and then continued on our journey.

Thursday October 29, 2020
Meandering my way through Holborn on my way toward Euston station, I passed by the remains of St Mary Aldermanbury church, which is situated beside the City of London Police HQ.
Considering its location within the City of London, it is a tranquil place to sit and relax. The footprint of the church is all that remains, with trees and shrubs having been planted to bring the area to life.
Benches are placed around a small square, so that you can relax and soak up the atmosphere.
Although only parts of the walls remain, the church lives on... across the Atlantic Ocean.
