Horrible Histories: Terrible Thames

London The Unfinished City
Keilyn and Erin ready to board the Horrible Histories Terrible Thames cruise.

Friday October 28, 2022.

Erin and Keilyn, both, are really into their history and love reading the 'Horrible Histories' books. So, when we spotted a 'Horrible Histories' ferry sailing the River Thames, we just had to take a trip on her.

With the vessel, 'Silver Sockeye', due to depart at 10:45 we made sure that we were there in plenty of time, so that we could be at the front of the queue to grab the front seats. We headed upstairs and sat at the front on the port side, with the stage just in front of us.

After a quick safety message, we were underway. Our guides were Harry Sutherland and Rob Cummings, a student and teacher respectively.

From the moment we were underway to the moment we returned they bombarded the passengers with all of the history of the River Thames from Execution Dock to Lambeth. Entertaining, gory, informative and brilliantly presented, the cruise was a pure delight.

The route of the vessel took us beneath Tower Bridge, along the River Thames where it passed beneath Westminster Bridge, before turning and heading back to Execution Dock and its moorings at Tower Bridge Quay.

This gave us the perfect opportunity to see the sights from a completely different perspective.

Once we had disembarked we headed to the kiosk where Keilyn made a purchase of a book and a quill pen.

It is definitely one to visit, regardless of age.
