Wandering east along the Regent's Canal, from Angel, I soon found myself in Shoreditch Park.

Commemorative Plaque.

To the north of the park are the old Gainsborough Pictures film studios, which were converted to apartments in 2004.

Film Reel sculpture.

There is a sculpture of a film reel, in Shoreditch Park, and a giant sculpture of Alfred Hitchcock's head within the grounds of the apartments, which, unfortunately, I wasn't able to access on this visit.

Brief History

Gainsborough Pictures, or Islington Studios as it was also known, was a British film studio based on the south bank of the Regent's Canal, Hoxton, and was active between 1924 and 1949.

The studios were situated within in an old converted power station, that was built for the Great Northern & City Railway.

It was best known for producing 'B' movies and melodramas that included 'The Lady Vanishes' and 'The Wicked Lady'.

Many great names worked here, like Gracie Fields, Alfred Hitchcock and Ivor Novello,
