The Terrace at One Leadenhall

The Terrace at One Leadenhall is one of London's newest free public viewing spaces. Unlike most other elevated viewpoints across the capital, this platform was designed from its very inception to be fully accessible to everyone.

Officially opened to the public in May 2026 following the completion and handover of the One Leadenhall skyscraper, the Level 4 terrace serves as a dedicated, free-to-access urban oasis right in the financial heart of the city.

The Experience and Design

The platform is thoughtfully oriented southwards, providing a warm sun-trap that remains comfortably sheltered from prevailing winds. Open late into the evening, it offers a fantastic vantage point for watching the sunset and taking in the glittering City skyline after dark. While protected overhead, the terrace is relatively shallow; given the height of the mirrored ceiling, heavy driving rain or strong gusts may still reach visitors, so keep an eye on the weather forecast.

Contrasting Architecture

Positioned on the fourth floor, the space sits directly at the intersection of London's past and present. Looking down, visitors can admire the intricate Victorian rooftop of Leadenhall Market; looking up, they are met with an uninterrupted view of the Fenchurch Building (The Walkie-Talkie).

Despite its primary southern focus, peering around the edges of the terrace reveals clear views of landmark structures Tower 42 (NatWest Tower) and 122 Leadenhall (The Cheesegrater). The Monument to the Great Fire, The Shard, St Paul's Cathedral, the Lloyd's building, and the nearby Garden at 120 are also clearly visible.

A True Public Space

Unlike many commercial viewpoints that can feel like an afterthought or require navigating complex ticketing systems, this area was designed in partnership with the City of London Corporation planning team. 

The explicit goal was to create a peaceful, no-booking-required sanctuary for local workers, heritage enthusiasts, and visitors alike.

Entry Details

No tickets or advance reservations are required; visitors may simply arrive during opening hours. The dedicated public entrance is located on Whittington Avenue, right alongside Leadenhall Market, where express lifts take guests directly up to Level 4.

• Fully step-free and wheelchair accessible across the entrance, restrooms, and seating areas.

• Sheltered seating makes the space ideal for a quiet outdoor lunch break.

• Water bottles and small cold snacks are permitted, though hot food and hot drinks are prohibited.

• Alcohol consumption and smoking are strictly forbidden.

Note: While the viewing terrace itself is fully operational, an adjoining on-site bar and restaurant space will open at a later date.
